Saniderm is a breathable, waterproof bandage designed for long term wear. Although most clients have no problems with it I like to try a test patch on un tattooed skin to assure no issues.
AfterCare
Below are my instructions for aftercare for your new tattoo.
Saniderm:
- *After the first 24hrs remove bandage under running water to make peeling more comfortable.
- *Wash tattoo thoroughly with anti bacterial liquid soap and warm water. Sometimes it helps to finish with a splash of cold water to sooth the tattoo.
- Dry tattoo with paper towel or air dry and do not apply lotion or ointment of any kind. Apply second bandage and be sure to cover any exposed bits with extra bandage. If a bubble forms, pop it and cover the spot with a scrap of bandage.
- Wear this second bandage for 3-4 days and remove in the same fashion.
- Apply a thin layer of non scented lotion any time the tattoo feels at all dry or itchy.
- Please look out for any typical skin reaction as it does rarely occur such as itchy ness and skin redness. If this happens remove bandage and follow the below instructions.
Old School:
- Remove temporary bandage after 2-4 hrs. Wash tattoo thoroughly with warm water to remove any remaining ointment. Gently wash with fingertips and anti bacterial soap then rinse with cold water.
- Air dry or pat with a clean paper towel. Apply a VERY thin amount of ointment such as Aquaphor or something similar. NO VASELINE OR NEOPSORIN!!!!!
- After the first three days you can stop with the regular washing and switch to a thin amount of non scented lotion.
- If possible repeat this process 2-3 times per day, morning noon and night.(second to last step)
